Experimental Fine Art Photography & Mixed Media

A Space for Creative Exploration

Welcome to ArtLab, a space where I let go of rules and let curiosity lead the way.

This is where fine art photography meets abstraction, mixed media, and creative experimentation—a place where I can push boundaries, layer textures, and play with unexpected compositions.

Photography, for me, isn’t just about capturing reality—it’s about transforming it, shaping it into something that feels different, more fluid, more alive. In ArtLab, images evolve through digital manipulation, mixed media, or the simple act of seeing things from a new perspective. Some pieces come together intuitively, while others challenge me to rethink what photography can be.

The ArtLab Collections

Each series in ArtLab represents a different way of seeing, a different way of experimenting with photography, abstraction, and mixed media.

ColorScapes – The Language of Color

This collection is all about color—bold, expressive, sometimes chaotic. I use unexpected palettes, contrasts, and abstract compositions to create pieces that feel more like paintings than photographs. Here, color isn’t just an element—it’s the subject itself.

In-Between – Spaces of Transition

A collection about liminal spaces—the moments between light and shadow, movement and stillness, clarity and abstraction. These images are layered, textured, sometimes distorted, reflecting how life itself is always shifting.

Hybrid Art – Where Photography Meets Mixed Media

In this series, photography is just the beginning. Painting, collage, digital layering—I use whatever the image needs to evolve into something new. These pieces break down the walls between photography and traditional art, creating works that exist somewhere in between.

Scanography – Photography Without a Camera

Here, I move away from the camera altogether and use a flatbed scanner as my tool. Objects are placed directly onto the scanner, creating intricate, high-resolution images with surreal textures and unexpected details. Without a lens, the scanner captures a new way of seeing, turning everyday items into something extraordinary.

Evolved – Photography as a Living Medium

What happens when an image changes over time? In this series, I explore the idea that photography is never truly static—it evolves, degrades, transforms. Through physical manipulation, digital degradation, alternative printing techniques, and double exposure, I push the boundaries of what a photograph can become.

Double exposure allows multiple layers of time and space to exist within a single frame. By blending two or more images, I create compositions that feel like fragmented memories—overlapping moments that challenge our perception of reality.

Some images are carefully planned, while others emerge through experimentation, embracing the unpredictable beauty of imperfection.

This collection is about embracing change—how an image, much like a memory, shifts and reshapes itself over time.

What is Experimental Fine Art Photography?

Experimental Fine Art Photography is about embracing the unknown. It’s about shifting focus from what we see to what we feel.

Instead of simply documenting moments, I explore ways to deconstruct, reinterpret, and rebuild them through different techniques.

  • Abstract distortions that challenge perception

  • Layered textures created digitally or physically

  • Mixed media techniques, blending photography with paint, collage, and unconventional materials

  • Unusual compositions that shift reality just enough to make you look twice

  • Light and shadow play that turns everyday subjects into something surreal

Sometimes, the best images come from happy accidents—the unexpected ways color bleeds into a composition, the imperfect grain of a scan, or the way layering two photos creates something entirely new. I don’t just take photos—I build them, transform them, and let them evolve.

Abstract Photography & The Art of Seeing

Much of my work in ArtLab leans into abstract photography—focusing on form, texture, and movement rather than clear subjects. To me, abstraction is a way of seeing beyond the obvious, of finding emotion in color, shape, and space.

Some of my favorite techniques include:

Blurring and distortion to create dreamlike visuals

High-contrast monochromes that amplify mood and mystery
Unexpected color shifts to challenge perception
Organic patterns found in nature, textiles, and everyday textures

Fine Art Prints & Digital Downloads

Many of my experimental fine art photography pieces are available as museum-quality fine art prints.

Want to print on your own?

Some works are available as high-resolution digital downloads, giving you the freedom to choose your own size, medium, and framing.

If there’s a piece in ArtLab that speaks to you but isn’t available yet as a print or download, reach out—I’d love to make it happen!

ArtLab is a space for experimentation, for play, for breaking the rules of photography. Every image is a process, a discovery, an evolution. I invite you to explore, to look closer, and to let yourself feel something unexpected.
